Improving the reading comprehension skills of grade viii students of MTS PSM Tulungagung by using a mind mapping strategy / Fatatul Mauludiyah
Abstrak
Reading comprehension is the ability of learners to process text understand its meaning find basic ideas and information and integrate it with what readers know in reading historical narrative text. It is hoped that the application of the strategies will take the essence of reading in detail precisely and accurately. Students are expected to process important information from the text efficiently by using the mind mapping strategy. This study aims to determine how the use of mind mapping strategies can improve the learners learning outcomes in reading comprehension class VIII MTS PSM Tulungagung. This research is classroom action research (CAR). The subjects of this study were all students of class VIII with a total of 30 students. The treatment given to the research subjects to improve learning outcomes were the mind mapping strategies. The results of this study show that mind mapping methods are implemented in line with the learning implementation approach. In the first cycle the researcher saw an improvement in reading comprehension test results from 33.3 percent to 50%. To assist the implementation of mind mapping strategies the researcher added vocabulary material and identified keywords in each phrase in the second cycle. The students test results reached 93.3 percent in Cycle II of the implementation. The findings suggest that mind mapping strategies used in reading instruction can help students understand more.
