Readability of 2019/2020-graduates’ sarjana thesis summaries of english language and literature, universitas negeri malang / Galang Surya Agma
Abstrak
When addressing educational writing readability is a critical issue. Hence through readability we can estimate that our writing is understandable and interesting to read. A lot of readability formulae have been developed with their own strength and weakness. In order to overcome the weakness multiple readability formulae were employed in this study namely FRE Fog SMOG ARI and Coleman-Liau Index. Even though readability score cannot be used as a definite reference for the quality of a written work the score is strong enough to find out and determine the target readers. This study has found out that some of the summary written by fresh graduate of Universitas Negeri Malang has less than the readability score intended for undergraduate reading materials. Also some suggestions have been given to improve or adjust the score thus the reading material meets its target readers.
