Keywords Impoliteness strategies Instagram comments Social media This study aims to analyze impoliteness strategies shown in Donald Trump rsquo s official Instagram comments proposed by Culpeper (1996). It shows how impoliteness strategies are used on Instagram comments. In this study I conducted a qualitative method. The data of this research were taken from Donald Trump rsquo s official Instagram account in the comments section. In five impoliteness strategies proposed by Culpeper (1996) There were only four impoliteness strategies found in Donald Trump rsquo s official Instagram account Bald on record impoliteness Positive impoliteness and negative impoliteness and Sarcasm or mock politeness. Bald on record impoliteness was the highest strategy that people used in Donald Trump rsquo s official Instagram. The second negative impoliteness. Third positive impoliteness and the last was sarcasm or mock politeness. There was no withhold politeness found in Donald Trump rsquo s official Instagram account because withhold politeness tends to communicate directly.
