Balancing the feminine and masculine gendering hermione granger rsquo s character development / Zihahintya Birhami

Abstrak
This study investigates whether Hermione Granger the primary sidekick of Harry Potter in the Harry Potter novel series is a strong female character who is capable of challenging gender stereotypes. Contrary to the popular belief that says otherwise this study demonstrates the development of the character. Hermione Granger has been continuously facing oppression from the society around her. As time goes by through the series her character has grown stronger. Hermione Granger challenges the feminine stereotypes by showing that women are also capable of reason strong and independent. Moreover she shows that sometimes the feminine traits inside her become the reason why she challenges the stereotype and stands for others. In short Hermione is an exemplary fictional character who develops by balancing the feminine and masculine sides of her personality.
