Transformation of livelihood in factory workers being victims of lapindo mud in relocation in porong sub district / Riski Nabilla Ghandi
Abstrak
Before Lapindo mud disaster Porong sub district was one of industrial regions. Considering such background many surrounding people rely for their life on working as factory workers. However the victims were forced to lose their livelihood as factory workers due to Lapindo mud disaster having sunk productive regions surrounding including industrial regions. As a result the victims should migrate to look for new residence and job in current relocation. One of adaptation processes the victims undertake in current residence in addition compensation fund capital is the varying transformation of livelihood in each of victims. The objective of research is to find out the post-disaster social-economic recovery process the transformation of livelihood among former factory workers who become the victims of Lapindo mud and the transformation of victims rsquo livelihood in Oliver-smiths rsquo and Bourdieus rsquo perspective. This study used a qualitative method with case study and purposive sampling data collection technique. Meanwhile the result of research shows many former factory workers becoming the victim of Lapindo transform their livelihood into the one beyond industrial sector. Some factors affect this transformation limited skill age gender and nominal amount of compensation encouraging victim to be entrepreneurs.
