Analysis of characterization on floyd dell’s play enigma / Agus Budi Prayoga

Abstrak
ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the characterization of the characters and its relation to plot in Floyd Dell rsquo s play Enigma (1920) who is a well-known writer in the development of the literary world in America. The data in this study were taken from quotations from the characters rsquo dialogue in the Enigma play. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that (1) the character of she (Helen) in this play has manipulative emotional selfish and sadistic personality (2) the character of he (Paul) in this play has cold hearted weak and bitter personality (3) the plot of the Enigma play is influenced by the characterization of the characters.
