Kindergarten teachers\' perceptions toward the importance of english for young learners / Nadia Risky Putri Auliya Mustofa

Abstrak
The objective of this study is examine kindergarten teachers rsquo perceptions toward the importance of English for young learners. This study was survey research and conducted from February 24th until March 11th 2021. The subjects of this study were 123 kindergarten teachers in Kecamatan Kedungkandang. This study used online questionnaire to collect the data. The questionnaire consists of 22 questions that deal with kindergarten teachers rsquo perceptions toward the importance of English for young learners 21 close ended questions and 1 open ended question. Most of the data were analyzed by using percentages and for the qualitative data were analyzed by using narrative description. The result of this study showed that the kindergarten teachers agreed that English for young learners is important. They assumed that English for young learners is important because of several reasons that stated as follows 1) they believed that young learners will achieve better than adults when they are learning English 2) They believed that English will help young learners to get a lot of information 3) They believed that young learners will be easier to communicate with foreigners in this globalization era 4) They believed that with good English competence young learners will have social and economic benefits in the future 5) They believed that English will enrich young learners rsquo vocabulary.
