The correlation between extensive reading and vocabulary size / Fadila Aini Zuhro

Abstrak
The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between extensive reading and vocabulary size of the eleventh-grade students of the language program in SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen. An extensive reading questionnaire and a vocabulary test were used to collect the data which was then analyzed using SPSS 25. The findings indicated that there was a correlation between students rsquo extensive reading and their vocabulary size. The result of the research showed that the correlation value (r) was 0.897 where the degree of freedom (df) was 26 and the r-table was 0.388 at the significance level 0.05. So the correlation value was higher than the r-table (0.897 gt 0.388 rho 0.05) meaning that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Thus there was a high positive correlation between the two variables the higher the students do extensive reading the higher the improvement they get in their vocabulary size.
