Character education values on reading material of an english textbook \"bahasa inggris SMA/SMK Kelas X\" / Lukita Elva Nabila

Abstrak
Indonesian students rsquo character decreases nowadays since a lot of juvenile cases are happened such as brawling bullying and drug abuse. Besides the development of technology also has a role in that cases. Therefore the government included character education values to be taught in the school. One of the learning materials to teach the values is a textbook. This study was conducted to find what character education values called Profil Pelajar Pancasila is presented in the reading material of an English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris SMA/SMK Kelas X and the technique used. Content analysis is the method used in this study. The findings show that all of the 6 values are found. They are belief devotion to God and noble character global diversity cooperation independence critical thinking and creativity. Cooperation becomes the most frequent value found and critical thinking is the lowest. The techniques used to present the values are implicit and explicit. The implicit technique is the most used for presenting the values. Therefore the textbook can be used by the teacher as a reference to teach the latest character education values that are determined by Kemendikbud in 2020.
