Utilizing mobile-assisted language learning tool (flipgrid) to reduce secondary students rsquo anxiety in speaking english / Maria Gemma Vienita
Abstrak
This study aims to minimize students rsquo speaking anxiety by utilizing Mobile-Assisted Language Learning tool Flipgrid. This research employed Classroom Action Research method of one cycle comprising four meetings with the participation of 26 eleventh grade students of SMAK Santo Albertus Malang. Data collection was done using Public Speaking Classroom Anxiety Scale (PSCAS) observation sheet interview and open-ended questionnaire as instruments. The result of this research showed that Flipgrid was able to alleviate students rsquo apprehension in English speaking. It was proven in the students rsquo PSCAS test outcome that no more students belonged in the high anxiety category after using Flipgrid. Furthermore students were more relaxed became enthusiastic and overall enjoyed the experience of practicing their English speaking and interacting with their peers through the application. This study finally recommends the use of Flipgrid to reduce students rsquo FLA in speaking and ameliorate the engagement in the classroom during remote learning.
