High schoolers’ grammatical deviations in writing descriptive texts / Dewi Intan Maghfiroh Putri Walasari
Abstrak
This study aims to analyze grammatical deviations in descriptive text written by seventh-grade students and focus on the most frequent errors. The researchers use Surface Strategy Taxonomy (Dulay Burt and Krashen 1982) in identifying the errors. The findings show there are four types of errors made by the students omission (37 8%) addition (29 4%) misformation (31 08%) and misordering (1 68%).Omission errors happen to be the most frequent errors and misordering is the least frequent error in this study. The researcher suggests the teacher give direct feedback based on the grammar errors to minimize future errors in composing English texts.
