Challenges faced by the undergraduate english language education students of Universitas Negeri Malang in completing their theses / Niken Nawawi

Abstrak
Being graduated on time from university is an ideal goal of undergraduate students. However writing a thesis as the last requirement at the end of the study is very challenging which caused some students could not graduate on time. Henceforth this study aims to explore the challenges of undergraduate English Language Education (ELE) students of Universitas Negeri Malang and to find out the most problematic challenges in finishing their theses over the eighth semester. The samples involved 40 undergraduate ELE students rsquo cohort 2014 and 2015 which were selected by criterion sampling method. The data were collected by using a set of online questionnaire. The data were analysed by using descriptive in SPSS 20.0 and were described thereafter. The findings revealed that the most problematic challenges were a) academic challenges were related to ideas development and b) non-academic challenges related to mental health issue.
