Teachers’ strategies in teaching writing to the second grade students of MAN Kota Batu / Dean Camar Novira

Abstrak
Abstract Writing is one of the most important language skills for students to learn. People see learning English writing as crucial competence in the world of communication. It is essential to know the appropriate strategy for teaching writing after acknowledging the importance of English as one of the worldwide languages in the global world. This study aims to investigate how the teacher teaches writing in the second grade of senior high school by implementing a case study method. The subject of this study is one of the English teachers in MAN Kota Batu. The instruments for this research are an observation checklist and an interview guide. Findings show that the English teacher used two teaching strategies the process writing strategy and the peer teaching strategy. The process writing strategy has the advantage for students to recognize the various stages and activities of producing a good piece of writing. As for the peer teaching strategy it has the advantage of improving their inventiveness in expressing ideas.
