The register of player unknown \'s Battleground Mobile / Muhammad Tuftachun Nafi
Abstrak
People unconsciously used registers for communication. It is more efficient rather than using regular terms and description. With a different setting comes with different register. Which means the register will always have something new and different in all kind of communication. The purpose of this research is to identify registers that can be found and their meaning. The data is taken from players rsquo communications that occur during playing Player Unknown rsquo s Battleground Mobile. The data is taken and analysed by the theory of register by Biber (2005). This research used mixed method. This method is used to collect analyse and elaborate both qualitative and quantitative data. From the obtained recording there are 29 registers founded. After analysing the data it shows that (1) most of the data are related to the video game rsquo s features and items. It is because players from the recording participants rarely confront or met enemy players. (2) The meaning of the registers is extended from the original meaning of the words. Some of the registers are used as a verb and noun. This is because players tend to use these registers to make the communication more efficient. To sum up this research shows what registers that can be found in an online video game. With different kinds of players and the longer recordings there are chances if there will be more registers that can be found in this video game. Moreover there are many video games with different genres and themes that will have a whole different register for the following researcher to examine.
