Improving Eight-Grade students’ skill in writing recount texts by using chain story / Rizky Reviva Zadani
Abstrak
The objective of this study is to improve students rsquo skill in writing recount texts by using chain story. The research design of this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) that was adapted from Kemmis and McTaggart (1988). The research design contains planning implementing observing and reflecting. The subjects of this study consisted of 35 second-year students of VIII-C at State Junior High School (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri/SMPN) 5 at Probolinggo. This study was conducted in one-cycle that consist of 3 meetings. Data were collected by using some students rsquo writing worksheet observation sheet and writing scoring rubric that was adapted from Brown (2018). The result of study showed that the students who passed the passing grade increased from 9 students (26%) to 20 students (57.14%). Also the observation from the teacher as the observer showed that chain story can improve students rsquo performance in understanding and writing recount texts since chain story gave students new experience in learning to write recount text.
