An english immersion program in ibadurrochman boarding school Malang: a case study. / M. Bagus Fawwaz Mahendra
Abstrak
Achieving bilingual skills in a language requires a long process and high consistency. Therefore an understanding of bilingualism and its education system is the main requirement in schools that make bilingualism their goal or special program. This study aimed to reveal how the process of implementing a bilingual program called English immersion at MA Ibadurrochman Malang the problems faced by teachers and students and problem-solving. This research involved the principal 3 teachers and 35 students. This research method is descriptive with a case study model using observation sheets interviews and documentation. From these instruments found that the implementation of the English immersion program in this school was hampered due to several things such as the school curriculum and Islamic boarding schools which did not regulate the implementation of English immersion lack of teaching experience students rsquo low motivation and short time allocation. Solutions provided by the school for future programs were training and seminars for teachers holding English language training for students and overhauling the curriculum to manage the English immersion program better. The results of this study indicate that the English immersion program in this school is hampered and improvements are needed from the curriculum to the learning process.
