Improving the 11th graders’ skills in writing topic sentences of analytical exposition text using dictogloss / Bella Indah Lestari
Abstrak
Abstract This study was conducted to improve the senior high school students rsquo skills in writing topic sentences of analytical exposition text by applying a potential teaching technique called Dictogloss. The participants were 11th graders of a total 36 students at SMA Negeri 1 Sumberpucung. Classroom action research was set as the design for this study. Quantitative data were collected by the researcher using writing tests while qualitative data were gathered through interviews with a teacher and students observation and field notes. It was discovered that students rsquo writing achievement increased well. The students rsquo mean score and the percentage of them who got scores of 75 and above can be seen evidently. The mean score for writing test 1 was 78.6 and for writing test 2 was 82.9. Qualitative data showed students were impressed and having higher motivation in writing after the employment of Dictogloss. This technique effectively improved students rsquo skill in writing topic sentences of analytical exposition.
