English Department students’ experiences of collaborative writing / Azzahra Adha Guslyna

Abstrak
One of writing techniques that is often used by students to complete their writing assignments is collaborative writing. The purpose of the current study was to highlight the benefits of collaborative writing in specific topic areas namely the students rsquo experience on learning with their lecturers and friends the students rsquo experience in their self-study and the students rsquo needs during the process of completing the collaborative writing. The research subjects are 85 undergraduate English Language Teaching and English Language Literature students (2018 cohorts) who have taken literary analysis courses such as Basic Analysis Poetry Basic Analysis Prose and Basic Analysis Drama. This research used a mixed-method research design and employed survey online questionnaire and interview as the research instruments. The results show what makes the students rsquo collaborative writing successful. The first is that most of the students have faith in their lecturer related to the teaching-learning process. Secondly the students avoid conflict and instead they build rapport with each other. Lastly the students are aware about the importance of self-study.
