Flipped learning english-based supplementary speaking materials for faculty of economics and business students / Sumti Chusna

Abstrak
Speaking is a vital communicative competence in today rsquo s workplace. The students at the faculty of economics and business have a high demand to be able to speak English fluently and communicatively in order to prepare them in their future career. This study employs Research and Development proposed by Borg amp Gall (2003) consisting several research steps need assesment material design expert validation product revision step I material try-out and the final product revision. The need assesment investigated the students and English for Specific Purpuse (ESP) lectures at faculty of economics and business University of Muhammadiyah Malang and three business proffesional leaders at the multinational company. The need assesment resulted on the material contents map the teaching method the assesment and the suggested flip learning implementation. The Bridge a sumplementary speacking course book is created according to the recomendation in the need assesment. The course book consists of six chapters socializing with coworkers small talk telephoning handling with customer complaint describing business data negotiation and product promotion. The materials conducted several revisions from the expert in English language teaching the experienced ESP lectures and the suggestion after the implementation of material try-out. The final course book evaluation shows that the students have positive attitudes toward the implementation of the course book.
