Character values and critical thinking based-tasks in the English coursebook for the ninth graders / Sella Merinda Paritasari
Abstrak
The Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makariem launched a new education program. The profile of Pancasila students in freedom to learn consist of 6 points faith fear of God and noble character global diversity cooperation creativity critical reasoning and independence. Therefore character values and critical thinking must be emphasized in learning. This study aims to find out character values and critical thinking based tasks in the English students rsquo coursebook for junior high school 9th grade ldquo Think Globally Act Locally. This research used a content analysis. The human investigator and evaluation checklist were being used in this study. The description in the evaluation checklist adopted from the 18 character values by Ministry of Education and Culture and Bloom rsquo s Taxonomy revised by Anderson and Krathwohl rsquo s (2001). The findings of this research indicated the character values and critical thinking based tasks in English coursebook were founded in texts pictures and task instructions of the coursebook. The dominant frequent of character values was appreciation (13.3%). And the lowest dominant from character values were tolerance and patriotism (0.9%). The dominant frequent of critical thinking based task was applying (28.4%). And the lowest dominant was creating (6.2%).
