The use of indoglish in online marketplace / Deva Ayunita Savitry
Abstrak
Indoglish phenomenon is rampant in Indonesia. No one has discussed how Indoglish language gives influences to promotion and ease when selling in online marketplace platforms. Therefore the phenomenon of the widespread use of the Indoglish language becomes an interesting topic to be studied further especially as an important aspect in the world of marketing. This study examined the use of Indoglish language on Demanda as an online marketplace platform for its users. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and was conducted by collecting analyzing interpreting and then describing the data that were obtained. The data collection method used in this study was a mixed method of questionnaire and interview. The result shows that there are found 2 variations of Indoglish language in Demanda that are divided into 2 elements namely Indonesian elements in English language and English elements in Indonesian language. The use of Indoglish has a positive impact to Demanda users in communicating. In addition the use of Indoglish is also considered more prestigious because it can indirectly indicate the speaker s social class. Therefore Indoglish language can increase consumer confidence in the quality of the products they sell. In other words the use of Indoglish language on Demanda also has an impact on improving consumers perceptions of the quality of products sold by Demanda users.
