Improving students\' ability to write a procedure text through digital video demonstration / Maria Nadia Rahmatika

Abstrak
A procedure text is a text that explains to the readers about using a tool making food or doing certain activities. This type of text can be found on food packages user manuals etc. Apart from being seen on food packages and user manuals procedure texts can also be found as visual images/videos. These text types are taught to junior high school students in their first year. It is undeniable that students find it challenging to write procedure texts. These difficulties are likely caused by the teacher s method because it needs more time for students to understand the lesson. Therefore digital video as a learning media can be used as an alternative to making it easier for students of grade seven in SMPK Santa Maria I Malang to improve their ability to write procedural text in English. In this CAR the teacher explains the essential points and terms in the procedure text based on the video. The test result shows that using video makes learners achieve higher scores. Class BA improves from 81 to 91 class 88 improves from 84 to 92 class 8C improves from 77 to 90. It can be concluded that video helps learners write a procedure text much more effortless than printed material.
