ELT students’ perception on the use of video recording to promote the speaking skills / Farohatul Laili
Abstrak
In teaching ESL/EFL speaking is the most challenging skill to learn. Several methods are used in order to improve students skills in speaking especially in an academic context. One of the methods is the use of video recording. This research aims to identify analyze and describe students perceptions of using video recordings in the Speaking for Academic Purposes course. This research involved 85 ELT students as the sample out of 120 total population of 2020 cohort who had taken the Speaking for Academic Purposes course. This research was conducted using a survey as a research method by distributing online questionnaires and online interviews. The results showed that 80.8% of the students had positive perceptions of using video recordings in the Speaking for Academic Purposes course. Additionally they believe their speaking abilities in terms of their vocabulary pronunciation grammar fluency as well as confidence and motivation have improved. It is clear that video recording can help increase students communication skills at an advance level increased.
