Students’ perception of the use of watching korean dramas with english subtitles for vocabulary learning / Siti Khairunnisa

Abstrak
Vocabulary is essential to mastering English. Learning vocabulary can be done enjoyably by using media for example Korean Dramas. Students can learn new words by activating English subtitles while watching Korean dramas. This research aimed to explore students perceptions of the use of watching Korean dramas with English subtitles for vocabulary learning. The study involved thirty-six students from XI MIPA I of SMA Negeri 5 Padang. The data was obtained from online questionnaires. The results of the questionnaires showed that majority of students had a positive perception of watching Korean dramas with English subtitles. They felt improvement in vocabulary mastery including recognizing the spelling and word usage. Students agreed that learning vocabulary by watching Korean dramas with English subtitles is fun and they felt more motivated to learn English especially Vocabulary by watching Korean dramas with English subtitles.
