Abstrak
This research explores liberal feminism through the character Amy March in Little Women by Greta Gerwig (2019). Amy s journey from a young artist to an adult woman becomes a focal point for examining the social challenges faced by women in the 19th century. Greta Gerwig s adaptation paints a different picture of Amy s struggles emphasizing her pursuit of artistic dreams in Paris and the obstacles caused by societal expectations particularly regarding marriage. Researchers using Rosemarie Putnam Tong s liberal feminist theory analyze Amy s character focusing on freedom of speech equal education and freedom of action. Amy s transformation from an ambitious young artist to a thoughtful and critical woman shows the impact of societal norms on women s choices. These findings underscore Amy s outspoken critique of societal expectations which aligns with liberal feminist principles of women s autonomy and freedom of choice.
