Transaction conversation between customer and cashier in cafe: conversation analysis / Fauzah Yanusavitri
Abstrak
The study aims to identify the conversation analysis aspects that arise in transaction conversations between cashiers and customers at Timtong Dessert Bar. The acquired data were analyzed using the Sacks et al. (1974) Conversation Analysis theory. The research focuses on three observed aspects namely preference organization adjacency pairs and turn-taking as highlighted in the collected data. The analysis revealed that preference organization was the most frequent aspect appearing 50 times followed by adjacency pairs with 47 occurrences while turn-taking was the least common with only 18 instances. It can be inferred from the analysis that preference organization is the predominant aspect observed during transaction conversations and the primary factor influencing transaction conversations between cashiers and customers since responses to questions or opinions do not always align with expectations.
