Abstrak
This study aimed to find if there is correlation between the eleventh graders rsquo intensity of watching English subtitled videos on YouTube and their vocabulary knowledge. The design of this study is correlational. The subjects of this study were 108 eleventh graders of a state high school in Malang. The research data were collected with two instruments i.e. a vocabulary test and a questionnaire. Spearman Rank Correlation was used to examine the correlation between eleventh graders rsquo intensity in watching English subtitled videos on YouTube and their vocabulary knowledge. The result revealed that the students were mostly in the moderate category for their watching intensity while their vocabulary size test scores were mostly high. The study output showed that r value obtained was 0.351 which was higher than 0.05 which means there was no correlation between students rsquo intensity in watching English subtitled videos on YouTube and their vocabulary knowledge. The absence of correlation was probably due to the instrument and the limited number of participants. Therefore future researchers who are interested in conducting a similar study are suggested to employ a better instrument and involve larger respondents.
