English lexical interference analysis in indonesian instagram display / Shahnice Olivea
Abstrak
Language interference is a term to denote the phenomenon that results from language contact more precisely when the source language is transferred into the target language usage. This term has long been used in linguistic research such as bilingualism and second language acquisition. In this study the object used is social media especially Instagram. This is because Instagram provides many languages that may influence each other s languages. Through this study the researcher aims to make Indonesians aware of the phenomenon of interference from foreign languages into Indonesian by showing the existence and forms of English interference in Indonesian especially in the use of vocabulary or lexical in Indonesian Instagram display. In this research the researcher applied the descriptive qualitative method to explain the data found. The online KBBI and Tesaurus were also used in this research as tools. The result of this study shows that there is 10.1% lexical interference in Indonesian Instagram display and three forms of lexical interference were found such as unintentional borrowing the coinage of new words and the implementation of borrowing.
