The correlation between writing anxiety, writing self-efficacy, and students’ writing achievement / Dinda Endiani

Abstrak
This research attempted to focus on (1) the correlation between writing anxiety and students rsquo writing achievement (2) the correlation between writing self-efficacy and students rsquo writing achievement (3) the correlation between writing anxiety writing self-efficacy and students rsquo writing achievement simultaneously. Correlational research was employed as the research design. The participants were 12th grade students majoring in Desain Komunikasi Visual at Vocational High School in Sidoarjo with the total of 85 students. The data collection in this research was gathered by employing two questionnaires and a writing test. The result indicated (1) the correlation between writing anxiety and students rsquo writing achievement was discovered to be negative (r -0 526 p lt 0 05) and it was existed in moderate level (2) a correlation was discovered between writing self-efficacy and students rsquo writing achievement (r 0 351 p lt 0 05). It was positive and in weak level (3) a correlation between writing anxiety writing self-efficacy and students rsquo writing achievement occurred when it was administered simultaneously. Teachers are highly encouraged to promote positive environments provide praise encouragement constructive feedback to increase students confidence and competency so they can overcome their writing anxiety and improve their self-efficacy.
