Representation of human and natural environment relations in dr heidegger’s experiment by nathaniel hawthorne / Novelia M. Aini Putri

Abstrak
This research is a follow-up to Dr Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. This paper will focus on ecocriticism which raises a background for a good environment. This article aims to show how the interaction between humans and the environment and the environment with the environment. The writer uses ecocriticism created by Greg Garrad. This research is needed because there are still limited ecological studies in the literature. Environmental issues are important issues and are being discussed lately. This approach proves that human behavior affects the state of the environment in the future. The character s behaviors in this story affect the environment. The data classified and analyzed with the concept of ecological literature according to Garrard including (1) pollution (2) wilderness (3) apocalypse (4) dwelling (5) animals and (6) earth. The research findings prove that this work contains ecological literature concepts. Two kinds of behavior can be seen in human relations with the environment. The dominant concept of ecology in the literature that appears is the concept of wilderness and the concept that rarely appears is the concept of disaster. Ecological concepts literature in short stories is a form of criticism made by the author on people s behavior in protecting the environment. Ecological literature also appears as a form of reflection on society in literary works especially in short stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
