Skripsi
Conforming to the typology of detective fiction in Agatha Christie’s murder on the orient express / Anak Agung Anindita
Abstrak
Murder on the Orient Express is a detective novel written by Agatha Christie in the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. Detective fiction is a genre separated from literature as it strictly conforms to its genres. These genres are divided into three main genres with the novel itself being considered a whodunit. This criticism aims to understand the typology and method of conformity used in the novel. The result of the criticism shows that the novel is divided into three parts corresponding to the story of the crime the story of the investigation and the solution in a whodunit. The stories are focused on dialogues with minimal narrative in a chronological time sequence meant to invoke curiosity as well as encourage note-taking and deduction-making from the readers as active participants filling the role of the second detective competing with the detective character before abruptly ending as soon as the detective retires from the completed case.
