Increasing scientific literacy abilities through SSI integrated PJBL-Steam learning model on energy and simple machine topics / Talitha Raissa Reswara
Abstrak
Scientific literacy skills are necessary in 21st century learning. However students scientific literacy skills are still low. The implementation of SSI integrated PjBL-STEAM is still rarely used to improve scientific literacy skills. Thus this research aims to investigate the impact of implementing the SSI integrated PjBL-STEAM on students scientific literacy skill on the energy and simple machine topics. The research method used is quasy experimental with the match-only pretest-posttest control group design and was applied to grade 8 students at Laboratory UM junior school Indonesia. The measurement instrument used is a scientific literacy ability test with a Cronbach s Alpha 0.807. Data analysis used the t test Mann Whitney and N-gain. The result shows that the SSI integrated PjBL-STEAM is able to improve students scientific literacy skills which results are supported by the N-gain score is in the medium category for the experimental class which gets the criteria a level higher than the low category for the control class. If we look at each sub-topics the simple machine is higher than the energy in both classes. Meanwhile if we look at each scientific literacy indicator the third and the first indicators get the highest scores for each experimental and control class.
