Efl university students\' attitudes toward environment: post essay writing course / Salsabila Firda Hudaya

Abstrak
The current study explores the EFL university students rsquo attitudes toward the environment after they had taken the essay writing course within 2 years. A cross-sectional survey design with a quantitative approach was employed to answer the research questions 1) What is the level of EFL students rsquo attitudes towards the environment within 2 years after they have taken the essay writing course 2) What are the EFL students rsquo attitudes toward the environment within 2 years after they have taken the essay writing course An adapted questionnaire was used in gathering the data including three aspects of environmental attitudes consisting of cognitive affective and behavior. The purposive sampling selected 34 EFL university students who took the essay writing course integrated with environmental education. The collected data were analyzed statistically using descriptive statistics by applying percentage calculations and valid percentages. The findings revealed that EFL university students had a moderate level of environmental attitudes and they showed positive attitudes toward the environment within 2 years. It can be concluded that integrating environmental education into the essay writing course significantly influences environmental attitudes. Therefore this current study suggests that further researchers need to explore other EFL courses that are also incorporating environmental education.
