Abstrak
One of the most popular and apparent speech disorders is stuttering. It has been widely studied and has generated several categorization based on its symptom. Its portrayal in entertainment medium comes in many forms. one of which is in The Imitation Game a movie where the main character is a stutterer. This study aims to decode and categorize which category the stutter phenomenon falls into as well as to provide a comparison between stuttering in the mentioned film and real life (by means of Stammer School a documentary about stuttering). In doing so this study relies much on a theory proposed by Zebrowski (2003) who has compiled types of speech dysfluencies between-word and within-word dysfluencies. The final results of this study demonstrated that there are visible differences between the movie actor who acted as a stutterer and the real life example of an actual person who suffers from it. Examples include the absence of nervousness as well as other certain physical gestures.
