Structuralist criticism of John Steinbeck\'s of mice and men / Priscilia Eka Putri Andreane
Abstrak
This thesis aimed to study John Steinbeck rsquo s Of Mice and Men which was published in 1937 and won the New York Drama Critics Award in 1938 (Railsback amp Meyer 2006). The previous studies and critiques on Of Mice and Men mostly focused on the extrinsic aspects of the work and leaving a yawning gap for intrinsic studies. This is the reason why I decided to conduct an intrinsic study on this novel focusing on its structure. In order to reveal the novel rsquo s artistic quality I have to focus on the intrinsic elements mdash namely narrator rsquo s monologue/narration tone(s) and foreshadowing mdash that are intricately interconnected to disclose the structural integrity.
