Emotional eating behavior and its association with energy consumption and nutritional status among pregnant women in malang, indonesia / Nadia Fauziyah Nashih
Abstrak
Objective To examined the relationship between emotional eating behavior (EE) with energy consumption and nutritional status of pregnant women. Design Emotional eating behavior energy consumption and nutritional status were analyzed cross-sectionally. Setting Indonesia Participants 59 pregnant women in the second and third trimesters. Main Outcome Measure(s) Pregnant women rsquo s EE energy intake and nutritional status. Analysis Analytical observational method with a cross-sectional study. Univariate analysis was carried out to determine the frequency of respondent characteristics (age number of children final education). EE energy consumption and nutritional status was tested with correlation rank spearman test. Results 46% of respondents were high emotional eaters (n 27) 41% had sufficient energy intake (n 24) and 73% had a normal nutritional status (n 43). Spearman correlation test showed pp gt 0.01 for nutritional status (p 0.997). Conclusions and Implications It can be concluded that emotional eating behavior has a significant relationship with energy consumption but has no relationship with nutritional status. It is important to take into account the larger context in which emotional eating behaviors take place in order to comprehend nutritional status during pregnancy. Therefore future studies should examine other different populations or areas.
