The influence of battle royale games on motivation in english learning: high school students\' experiences and opinions / Mahya Dewi Pramesti

Abstrak
This research investigated the influence of battle Royale games specifically Garena Free Fire Call of Duty Mobile and PlayerUnknown s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile) on motivation to learn English among high school students. The research was conducted through a survey involving 101 grade 11 students from SMA Negeri 1 Boyolangu using a questionnaire as the main research instrument. The collected data were analyzed through frequency distribution and presented in percentage form to describe individual students responses. Descriptive analysis showed that most students actively participated in playing battle royale games. The results showed that engagement with the battle royale game positively affected students motivation to learn English. The findings also emphasized the potential of battle royale games as an influential factor in encouraging motivation to learn English among high school students. These insights underscored the importance of considering contemporary gaming trends as motivational tools for language education encouraging further exploration and potential integration into the educational curriculum.
