The typical pendalungan accent used in probolinggo and how it differs from indigenous javanese and madurese accents / Anjumiz Zuhuri Kholiq
Abstrak
The Horseshoe area is home to intermarrying Javanese and Madurese tribes which have produced a unique culture and language known as Pendalungan. The word lsquo Pendalungan rsquo which refers to a huge territory that accommodates multiple features originates from the Javanese phrase lsquo dhalung rsquo which means a giant metal pot. For data analysis the researcher employed a descriptive technique. The steps involved in the data analysis stage are as follows (1) applying the reduplication results (2) splitting the reduplication form (3) dividing the data by the reduplication function (4) dividing the data by the reduplication meaning (5) talking about the results and (6) coming to conclusions. Data from this study will be descriptively presented with a translations provided for each word. This language phenomenon demonstrates the region rich diversity of cultural heritage. The unique linguistic identity of Pendalungan is characterised by its distinctive accent which is a blend of Javanese and Madurese influences. This accent reflects the fusion of culture in the Pendalungan region where Javanese and Madurese communities have coexisted for generations. Preliminary research suggests that the Pendalungan accent may exhibit variations in pronunciation vocabulary and grammar compared to standard Javanese or Madurese. Further investigation into the specific linguistic features of the Pendalungan accent could shed light on the complex interplay of language and culture in this region. The distinctive qualities of the Pendalungan accent which is spoken in Probolinggo Indonesia have been investigated in this study. Keywords Pendalungan accent sociolinguistics language acculturation
