Designing six characters for nusantara mythological horror for conceptual RPG (roleplaying game) artbook / Galuh Aisyah Rahmah
Abstrak
Nusantara mythological horror is a part of Indonesian folklore within generations of passed-down traditions and stories. Yet its potential is not explored in the creative and entertainment industry. Thus the purpose of this thesis is to conserve that culture through designing visually appealing RPG characters based on Indonesian mystical horror folklore to introduce and conserve Indonesian culture that is not as well-known to the general public. The methodology used in this thesis will be Design Thinking with its steps of empathizing define ideate prototype and test. The first step taken in creating through Design Thinking is to observe interview and conduct surveys needed to garner information experts rsquo input as well as the target audience. Next the key problems will be defined and further dissected to find the solution. During the ideate process the writer will conduct brainstorming whilst researching references and inspirations for the design as the rough sketch is drawn. From then on the prototype will be made in the form of a character sheet character sprites as well as character portraits to correspond with its purpose to be an RPG visual asset. Finally during the Final Project exhibition the completed designs will be implemented to launch to the general public as a way to test the audience rsquo s opinions and garner feedback.
