A multimodal analysis of the book cover of the jar that holds the universe / Ling Ling Dewi Anggi Wulansari

Abstrak
The purpose of this study is to understand how the combination of visual and textual elements is used to create a unified meaning especially on the cover of the book The Jar that Holds the Universe. The data source used a fantasy genre book entitled The Jar that Holds the Universe. This book was chosen as the primary data source for reasons such as 1) the book has never received critical analysis discussion 2) the book is written in English 3) the book is a fantasy genre 4) it has multimodal elements on the book cover. The data analyses were conducted using a multimodal analysis of a book covers. The results of the analysis show that a book cover is not only a combination of visual and textual elements but can be used to reflect the narrative of the story and increase understanding of the importance of visual communication in literary works.
