Male perspectives on the use of face throwing a kiss emoji in whatsapp chat / Riza Arya Prasetyo
Abstrak
Abstract The researcher presents a case study on the perspective on the use of kiss emojis by male students of the English Department Faculty of Letters Universitas Negeri Malang in the WhatsApp online chat application. The freedom to use emojis certainly creates a separate perspective for both the sender and the receiver. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The researcher gets respondents responses from questionnaires given online then discovers deeply in interviews. The researcher determined four variables based on four types of interpersonal relationships in general namely romantic interests family and relatives friends and acquaintances and strangers. Three respondents would be interviewed regarding their experiences and perspectives on the use of kiss emojis with friends and strangers. The conclusion of this research is in men s perspective kiss emoji are better used towards women and family meanwhile it does not feel correct to use kiss emoji for the same sex and least close group of people since kiss emoji a representative of an affectionate behavior and feeling.
