Abstrak
This study investigates the Indonesian EFL teachers perspectives on using ChatGPT to gain an understanding of their thoughts about the chatbot s capability their students using the tool and its usage in the future. We employ a qualitative research design and a semi-structured interview with four English teachers at a local Islamic high school in Malang alongside Salda ntilde a rsquo s approach to analyze the interview data. We found that the teachers had used the chatbot for plagiarizing-checking tools and to look for references. Some teachers also expanded on using other AI tools such as Quizwiz and Gemini as the chatbot can provide unreliable information. They also encouraged their students to use the chatbot within certain restrictions. Lastly they are confident that the chatbot won rsquo t replace their teaching role in the future as their presence is important to guide their learning. We recommend other teachers and students to use the chatbot critically.
