Exploring efl students\' affective factors in english debate activity / Della Tri Widya Wulan Sari
Abstrak
At one of the universities in East Java there are few enthusiasts for English debate and no previous studies have examined three affective factors namely motivations self-esteem and expectations of EFL students specifically in the context of debate. This research aims to explore and analyze the role of three affective factors namely motivations self-esteem and expectations of EFL students at one of the Universities in East Java participating in English debate activities. Using a qualitative approach and a narrative inquiry method the researcher discovered that participants had intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Furthermore most participants indicated high self-esteem. The majority had negative expectations and expressed the need to enhance their debating skills and they were aware of their strengths and areas for improvement.
