Abstrak
This study examines gender inequality in the My Next Words series a textbook used in Indonesian elementary schools from 3rd to 6th grade. The research question is Has the My Next Words book series aligned with the gender equality and inclusive learning environment agenda of the Merdeka Curriculum Using a descriptive qualitative method content analysis was conducted on texts and illustrations focusing on visibility firstness gender constructions occupation and activities. The findings reveal significant overrepresentation of male characters who appear in more diverse and prominent roles than females. This highlights the persistence of gender stereotypes in educational materials. The study recommends revising textbooks and pedagogical approaches to ensure more balanced gender representation.
