Students\' perception on ai tools for essay writing / Desy Putri Rahmadani

Abstrak
This study investigated students rsquo perceptions of the potential negative effects of AI tools for their essay writing. In order to find out more about the potential negative effects this study also asked for students rsquo perceptions of five commonly used AI writing tools such as ChatGPT Quillbot WordTune Grammarly and Google Translate. This research used survey as the research design with questionnaire as the instrument. The participants involved in this research were one hundred and thirteen English Language Education undergraduate students who have taken Essay Writing Class. To analyze the data this research used a descriptive quantitative approach. The findings revealed that students showed positive perception about AI tools for essay writing but they also acknowledged the potential negative effects those tools might give such as misinformation is possible when they use AI tools using AI tools elevates the concerns about the ethics of plagiarism and using AI tools lacks of originality.
