Ele Students’ Classroom management challenges and strategies during teaching practice program at Junior High School / Qorrie Aina
Abstrak
Effective classroom management is one of the fundamental aspects of teaching. As first-time teachers pre-service teachers should provide students with the required material and maintain an optimal learning environment to enable students to achieve their learning potential simultaneously. Consequently pre-service teachers might face many challenges and they have to use strategies for classroom management during teaching practice. This study was conducted to find out how much challenges faced and strategies used by pre-service teachers and how they affect each other in each aspect of classroom management experienced by ELE students of Universitas Negeri Malang as pre-service teachers during teaching practice activities. This research used an explanatory sequential research design using a survey involving 59 pre-service teachers as respondents and interviews involving five pre-service teachers as informants. The results of this study show that each aspect of classroom management has a significant challenge and requires the improvisation of various strategies. In addition the challenges faced in classroom management significantly influence the strategies used by pre-service teachers which can impact their professional growth by enhancing their teaching skills and deepening their understanding of the complexities of classroom management dynamics.
