Employing the 3-2-1 Strategy to Improve the Eighth Graders\' Reading Comprehension of Recount Texts / SALMA TSABITA AULIA
Abstrak
This study was conducted by the low reading comprehension skills of SMPN 1 Pakis students especially in recount texts. This study aimed to improve students reading comprehension of recount texts using the 3-2-1 strategy. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Pakis one of the junior high schools in Malang district. This study used Classroom Action Research and was conducted for two cycles with two meetings in each cycle. The subjects of this study were 8th-grade students of SMPN 1 Pakis in the 2023/2024 academic year. The instruments used in this research were reading comprehension tests observation sheets and questionnaires. The findings of the research are evident from the test outcomes. In the first cycle students who could answer all HOTS questions were 10 students which was 40%. While students who achieved scores above 75 were 19 students which was 76% of the students. In the second cycle 21 students which was 84% of the students could answer all the HOTS questions given and 100% of students scored above the KKM which is 75 from the scale of 1-100. The data proved that the criteria of success which are 80% of students involved in this research can answer 100% of the HOTS questions and 100% of students reach a minimum score of KKM which is 75 were achieved in the second cycle. According to the responses collected from the questionnaires most students agreed that the 3-2-1 strategy helped them capture information from the recount text. It can be concluded that the 3-2-1 strategy could help to improve reading comprehension especially on recount text in grade 8.
