Employing role-play technique at a public school in Malang regency to improve the eighth graders\' speaking skill / Olivia Febryliana
Abstrak
This research aims to find out the solution related to the problems experienced by the eighth graders in SMPN 1 Turen in learning English speaking skill which are lack of vocabulary fear of being mispronounced and the encouragement from the teacher. The subject of the research was the students VIII A and accommodates 32 students. The research conducted within March-April 2024 and involved six meetings. The research method was Classroom Action Research (CAR) carried in one cycle. The data of this research gathered by the pre-test post-test four treatment meetings of role-play field notes and students rsquo interview. The research discovered the average of students rsquo score in the pre-test to be 66.71 with the highest score was 85 and the lowest score was 50. Furthermore the percentage of the students who passed the standard Minimum Completion Criteria was 12%. Meanwhile in the post-test the students rsquo score were significantly increased showing the average score was 88.75 with the highest score was 100 and the lowest score was 75. The percentage of the students who passed passing grade was 93%. In conclusion role-play technique can improve the students rsquo speaking ability.
