Ele students\' perception toward edmodo as a learning management system in English online classes / Zakiyatus Arsida
Abstrak
This study investigates students rsquo perception toward Edmodo as a Learning Management System (LMS) in English online classes. It employs a survey research design that involved 134 English Language Education (ELE) students from cohorts 2017 2018 and 2019 who were asked to report their thoughts in the form of close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. Of all respondents 76% positively perceive Edmodo as a learning management system in English online classes while 24% respondents perceive otherwise. Edmodo helps the students to improve their language skills and increase their confidence during discussion activities. Edmodo is practical as the students can submit tasks or take a quiz virtually. The features in Edmodo assist them to download material references and learning resources freely. However some of the respondents revealed the drawbacks of having Edmodo in English online classes such as poor internet connection consuming lots of internet quota and there is no video conferencing feature. The findings showed that the use of Edmodo could help ELE students to improve their language skills increased their confidence to actively participate during discussion activities. Moreover it is practical to use. Thus language teachers are recommended to conduct English learning activities using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Edmodo as an online learning platform for learning English using various teaching methods.
