Students’ perceptions of artificial intelligence chatbot assistance in thesis writing / Fahrizal Yoga Utama
Abstrak
This study aims to investigate students perceptions of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots to help write a thesis and also regarding to the benefits and limitations of AI chatbots and within what limits students think it does not violate academic ethics. An online questionnaire was used to collect data. The results revealed that 98.75% of respondents considered the AI chatbot a great tool for student support services. Furthermore 81.25 % of respondents reported having a positive attitude. A large number of respondents (96.25%) believed that AI chatbots would make students overly dependent on these technologies. This also highlights the need for universities to address the integration of AI technology into academic environments and guidance on how AI can provide potential benefits in education and learning that are consistent with academic ethical standards. The findings of this study are expected to have a significant impact on both educational professionals and AI related policy in higher education institutions.
